How Narconon Handles Cocaine Addiction

What is Cocaine?

Cocaine is a stimulant drug, and it is very addicting. It can be snorted, smoked, or injected. Snorting is when you inhale the substance through your nose. Smoking is when you inhale the smoke produced when heating the cocaine. Injecting is when you heat the cocaine to liquid form and then injected it into your veins with a needle. All of these forms of cocaine use are dangerous and can lead to health issues and addiction. It can also increase the risk of HIV and other infectious diseases. Effects of cocaine do not last very long; therefore you have to continue to use to stay high. When snorting cocaine the affects may last 15-30 min, when smoking it they could last 5-10 minutes.

How does cocaine affect the brain and body?

What cocaine does when you use it is, it gets into your brain and it increases the amount of dopamine that the brain produces; which gives you the feeling of euphoria, or (a rush) as some people call it. The amounts of dopamine also affect your motor functions and pleasure senses. When it gets in to your brain it is easy to get addicted, because once you have done cocaine for so long you will start to develop a tolerance to it, and it will take more and more to get the high that you want. You will also no longer find the things that you used to enjoy in life pleasurable anymore; the only thing that will be able to give you the kind of happy feeling that you want will be the cocaine. There are also plenty of health risks when using cocaine. When you use cocaine it will cause you to have a lack of appetite, which can cause you to malnourish yourself. Also it can mess with your breathing, and heart rate and more. There are also a lot of other drugs that cannot be mixed with cocaine so that is another risk to put on the table; alcohol should not be mixed with cocaine for sure.

How Narconon Handles Cocaine Addiction

Narconon believes that an individual can fully overcome addiction and have seen this with thousands that have undergone our treatment program. We believe that when someone turns to drugs and alcohol, it is usually because there is an underlying problem causing pain and discomfort, and people turn to drugs and alcohol to mask the pain so that they don’t have to face it. We also do not believe in using more drugs to get a person to stop using drugs.

One key component of Narconon is using a sauna detoxification program to rid the body of residues left by drugs to help to drastically reduce physical cravings.

During the sauna detox program you will do light aerobics, and sweat in a dry heat sauna. This will rid your body of the majority of toxins being stored there.

Once you have successfully completed the detox treatment you will go into the rest of the program. When you are in this phase of the program, you will take several courses; these courses will help you identify the root problems that could have caused your addiction. You will also learn how to communicate, establish better relationships, confront and fix problems without drugs or alcohol. There are many more things that you will learn that will help you stay sober in the future.

Once you have completed all of your courses, you will go to a final review. This review will insure that you have received and understood all the tools that you need to get through life sober. You will also make a list of problems you may have to face when going home, and actions that you will take to solve these problems. Also you will make a list of goals that you would like to achieve when you get home. This is called your discharge plan; once your discharge plan is complete you have completed the program.

After you are home, you will be contacted often by Narconon to insure that you are still doing okay and you are working on achieving your goals. If you have any issues with handling any of your problems or reaching any goal we will try to help you as best as we can.

Cocaine addiction is a severe problem but with the right treatment, it can be fully overcome. The Narconon program has helped many who have struggled with cocaine addiction to fully recover and become productive members of society.
